I’m not sure we have been this excited about a new model’s arrival since maybe the ever popular, Buick Rendezvous? We were expecting the first sightings of the Encore to be at the Auto Show in February so you can imagine how excited we were to see three new Encore’s come off the truck this past Thursday!
Expected to compete with the Volkswagen Tiguan, BMW X1, Nissan Juke and Mini Countryman, the Encore gives the Buick brand five vehicles in its portfolio. It is powered by a 1.4L ECOTEC 138-hp turbocharged engine with variable valve timing and it offers an EPA-estimated 25 mpg city, 33 mpg highway and a combined EPA-estimated fuel economy of 28 mpg with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Encore ranges in price from $24,950 for the basic model to $28,840 for the premium package. Considered a small crossover, the Encore still has plenty of storage space; fold-flat seats and 48.4 cubic feet of cargo space.
The Encore is equipped with the Buick IntelliLink which is a voice-activated, high-definition system that connects your smartphone, your Pandora and SiriusXM stations, and Stitcher SmartRadio, all through the 7-inch full-color touch screen. There is also a USB port and Bluetooth connectivity. Technology is definitely the name of the game with the Encore, other available features include:
· Remote Start
· Rainsense Wipers
· Rearview Camera system
· Memory Seats & Mirrors
· Front Park Assist
· Rear Park Assist
And Encore takes safety to a whole new level with 10 air bags standard and available features such as Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and all-wheel drive. All of this combined with great Buick standards like StabiliTrak and OnStar, give Encore a comprehensive safety story.
